How to Hide Acne Redness with Cosmetics

The most common problem among teenagers and yuppies is acne. This can be caused by a number of factors like dirt, oily skin, stress and even genetics. Every day, millions of men and women struggle with having to hide acne redness as they go to work, school and social events. Having reddish skin due to acne is a dreadful alternative to having rosy skin. Acne redness depletes one’s self-confidence and therefore should be taken seriously. Some people advise the use of Visine, aspirin, and/or toothpaste to alleviate the redness. This is not recommended for people with sensitive skin, since this may cause allergic reactions. Aside from being painful, they will only be a temporary solution to the problem. Still, the best permanent solution to getting rid of redness caused by acne is to find a good dermatologist and have it treated.

But what you don’t have time or money for that yet? What could you possibly do to hide these imperfections for that special date, job interview or business meeting? Using cosmetic products provide a quick fix to the problem. Here are a few tips on hiding acne redness using cosmetic products:

1) Wash your hands before touching your face; we don’t want to aggravate the redness. Wrap a couple of ice cubes in a towel and apply to your face. Aside from reducing redness and swelling, this will also help minimize your pores to keep them from getting clogged.

2) Get a good tinted moisturizer. It is a good alternative to using liquid make-up since the latter may contain substances that can cause allergies and worsen acne. If you have oily skin, choose oil-free or water-based tinted moisturizers. This will help even out your skin tone. Apply an ample amount to your face and neck. Make sure it spreads out evenly.

3) Get a good concealer that matches the color of your skin. Remember that your concealer should be a shade lighter than your natural skin tone. It is also best to choose a yellowish tint when hiding redness.

4) Using a brush, lightly dust loose powder of your choice all over your face and neck to finish off the look.

You can apply more make-up afterwards, but you should probably keep it to a minimum since this could also be what’s causing your acne problem. Don’t forget to clean your face properly before going to bed. You also have to choose your cosmetic products wisely. Identify which ones work best for you and avoid those that cause allergic reactions. Read the labels and try to take note of the ingredients of the products that cause negative effects. This will help you in choosing the best product to use. Remember that it’s always best to apply fewer products on your face to avoid further problems.
